Welcome to Mahomet Lodge #220. We were chartered in 1856 and have been here in downtown Mahomet ever since. There are currently over 400 Masonic Lodges in the state of Illinois, and we are in the 6th Eastern District of the Grand Lodge of Illinois.
Masonry is the world’s oldest and largest fraternal organization. The earliest written evidence of Masonic traditions dates to the late 14th century. The modern version of Masonry that we know today began in England in the early 18th Century. Masonry was soon thereafter exported to the American Colonies and many of our nation’s founding fathers were among the first Masons in America. Today there are Masonic Lodges in every state of the United States as well as in countries all over the world.
We are very proud of our long history in Mahomet, and we strive to be involved in our local community.
